The Curriculum and Management of the Basic School Graduate Program (PPEB) began its activities in June 2015 linked to the Institute of Educational Sciences (ICED / UFPA), when it had approved its Academic Master's course by the Coordination of Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES) and UFPA's Higher Council for Education, Research and Extension (CONSEPE), under the terms of Resolution No. 4,720 / 2015.

In 2017, with the creation of the Center of Transdisciplinary Studies in Basic Education (NEB) of the Federal University of Pará (UFPA) under the terms of Resolution No. 765/2017-CONSUN, PPEB dissociated itself from ICED / UFPA, and becomes subunit of NEB. The Master's course belongs to the area of Education, has as Concentration Area the Basic Education and is formed by two Lines of Research: Curriculum of Basic Education and Management and Organization of Pedagogical Work in Basic School.

The program aims to train researchers at the Masters and, in the future, at the Doctorate level, aiming to:

  • Design itself as a reference in studies and research whose focus is based on social phenomena related to Basic Education, in the Amazon region in particular;
  • Articulate the training of researchers to strengthen Basic Education, particularly in the curriculum, management and pedagogical work that affect the Basic Education of the Amazon;
  • Qualify the training of professionals to act in the educational field, teaching, management and research at the level of Basic Education;
  • Promote academic and institutional exchange policies in the field of curriculum, management and teaching work in Basic Education, in order to solidify research, exchange investigative experiences and strategies for the production of knowledge, and improve the qualification of graduate students and professors linked to the partner Programs;
  • Strengthen scientific production by formulating Research Projects, consolidating Research Groups, conducting studies and promoting academic events based on the articulated performance of the Research Lines, whose results will be disseminated in the form of dissertations, theses, books, book chapters, articles in qualified journals, and papers presented in annals of events.

Currently, there are 22 permanent professors in the Program, with research projects linked to the Concentration Area of the course. The researches coordinated by the teaching staff are funded by development agencies such as CNPq, CAPES and UFPA.

In addition to the funds raised by the research projects, PPEB receives from CAPES, CNPq, Fapespa and shares of Masters scholarships to which students can apply. However, the request is subject to the availability of scholarships.
